V-Cableway, Jungfrau – Top of Europe (CH), referendum in autumn 2014

Create decision-making support for the population

If a tourist destination wants to successfully develop, it is often confronted with the expansion of existing infrastructure or new railways. This can also have political implications, since it can sometimes require the public’s consent, as was the case in the Bernese Oberland. The Jungfrau Railways and Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondola Cableway are planning to build a V-Cableway that will provide access to both the Eiger Glacier as well as Männlichen. This project will lead to a change in the redevelopment plan, which was put to the vote in the autumn of 2014 – and agreed to with a clear “YES”.

Erlebnisplan was commissioned to plan and implement an information exhibition. This allowed the community to get an overview of the planned project in a simple and playful way, and to form an opinion for the vote. The construction of the V-Cableway was visualised and made comprehensible by means of models and demonstrations. Furthermore, in an outdoor pavilion the Grindelwald population, and anyone else interested, could admire the new gondolas which had been planned for the Bernese Oberland destination.
